"Yeah, maybe." Logan said, "But I'm guessing these supermutants aren't gonna be glad 'bout the two of us, since we'll be the only ones they won't be able to manipulate. If anything, this is just another reason for them to want to get rid of us."

Taryn grunted a bit and raised her left brow in question, "Are you trying to scare me, wolverine?" She asked slowly, using his mutant name for one of the first times. "Cause about now it's getting really hard to scare me. Whatever shit you can think of, has probably already happened to me." She pointed out.

"I'm not trying to scare you." Logan replied, narrowing his eyes slightly. "I'm just warning you. You're free to walk out, and ignore the fact that you and I are carrying a bullseye on us. I wouldn't stop you. But I thought it might be good for you to know just what kind of trouble you find yourself in."

Taryn hesitated again, continuing to try and cover it up with another forced cough and clear of her throat, patting the front of her chest a little to make it look more real, "I am forever in trouble." She mumbled to herself and then glanced over his shoulder at the house, "Sorry," She finally turned her eyes back to him, "I can't stay in a place where they hate me. Don't say they don't because I'll know you're lying too. If I was in their position, then I'd hate me too. Especially... what's his name... Bobby? I think I'm in more immediate danger of the ice kid than I am with supermutants. At least supermutants only want to kill me, not string me up and freeze me from the inside out."

Logan shrugged his shoulders, not about to tell her any different. What she thought was probably true, and nothing, except maybe time, would fix that problem. He knew he would've hated her for every breath she took if he was in Bobby's position. But he wasn't, and unlike the other X-Men, he carried some luggage that made him rationalize the whole damn thing. Even if it was Rogue she killed, who was closer to him than anyone else in the place.
He wondered whether Taryn ever asked herself why he hadn't killed her or even just hated her after she'd pulled that trigger. It's not like he made a difference in revengeful grudges for someone just because he'd be friends with them. And he wasn't even that with this girl.
None of that was relevant now though, and he gestured at the mansion. "That'd be the last place I'd want to find a safe haven right now." He told her, "That's where those supermutants would expect either of us to be."

Taryn followed the sweep of his hand up to the mansion again and she pursed her lips, "Either way, that place is going to get hit hard. Whether we're there or not." She looked back to him, not trying to hide the selfish part of her now, "And no offense, but I'm not about to sit there and die for a bunch of people that hate me."
No wonder she rarely got along with anyone. Even she knew she was cold-hearted from time to time. It depended on the day and the situation at hand, but Taryn was one thing, if anything-- selfish. She looked out for herself first. She'd spent every year of her entire life alone, so the need to have friends and family was something she'd never had to rationalize with before. In her own mind, she was just no damn good.

Logan smirked, hardly looking humorous though, "Didn't think you would." He assured her. "But what are you gonna do? You're gonna leave this place and that's the only smart thing to do. But what then? Where are you gonna run too? When the whole world might risk being brainwashed, what are you gonna turn to?"

Taryn scuffed her beat up sneaker against the ground some, moving to ring her hands together behind her back, "I was thinking..." She paused and then just came out with it, "the Brotherhood, actually." She watched him carefully, ready to be berated about it, but her choices were limited.

Logan raised an eyebrow, now actually looking amused. "Why? You think they'll be any more friendly when they're gonna be manipulated by the supermutants?"

Taryn opened her mouth to reply, but the truth was she hadn't thought about that. "Fuck." She finally muttered quietly and then set a glare on him, "Alright, fine, you've proved your point. I'll head out on my own again, then." She shrugged, not seeing it as that big of a deal.
