"Yeah," Roux lied. He was half-convinced that as long as he kept saying this, he would come to believe it was the truth sooner or later. Maybe he was overreacting, after all. Maybe other people -normal people- wouldn't feel so bad 'bout the things that had happened that day. He realized that in order to make this Paris-thing work, he would have to compromise. As much as he could. Even if that involved a white lie to Vianne on occasion.
"Your chocolaterie is going to be a succes." He changed the subject. "The shop looks good. It's inviting." He smirked slightly, "I know I'd come for your chocolate."

"You did come for my chocolate" she chuckled "..and me, of course" she wrapped her arms around Roux and hugged him "speaking of which.." she took one arm back and searched her apron. "here.. it's your favourite" she chuckled again, giving him a chocolate

"Oh no it's not." He told her with a slow grin, before he put an arm around her and dress her close for a kiss. "THAT is my favourite." He mumbled, when their lips parted for a moment.

"oh.. pardon me for my mistake" she pressed herself a little closer against Roux and kissed him again. To Vianne everything was perfect and going to be okay. There was no sight of the dark cloud hanging above Roux, there was no place for it in her perfect blue sky.. When they parted again she rested her forehead against his "are you coming inside? tomorrow'll be a big big day for both of us"

"Yeah." Roux got up, took her hand and helped her up as well. As they went inside he took a last glance over his shoulder, at the dark skies above Paris. The Paris that seemed to treat them well - at least in Vianne's eyes. The same Paris that was rotten, and cold to strangers, in the eyes of Roux..
~Next day?~

The Next Day was THE big day for Vianne. In the morning she had brought Anouk to school, she had instructed her daughter to bring some friends, and their mothers, round to the shop after school. To persuade the kids, Vianne had made some bonbons for Anouk to pass round. Then, Vianne opened the shop to all the curious neighbours and visitors. It was a good day, people couldn't wait to taste the free chocolates and chocolate milk. Once they had tasted Vianne's wonders, the cash rolled in. Around 4, when Anouk was in the shop with her friends and some of their mothers, Vianne went to the back to show the kids how to make a good bonbon. In the meanwhile, her mind wondered off to Roux. Would he be able to make it to her grand opening?

Vianne shop had been on Roux's mind all day, and he made sure to catch up with any work that needed to be done so he could have a few hours off in the afternoon. Around 4, while Vianne had him on his mind, his luck changed though..
Strangers came to the garage. Gypsies. Rivier rats. His people. Roux was in the back, working on a boat's engine, when the two gypsies (a man and a younger woman) walked in. His boss stepped in before anyone else could.
"We're closed."
The man looked around in surprise, at the employers working. "What do you mean, closed? It doesn't look closed.."
"Closed to people like you." Roux's boss snarled. "Go away."
"Our money is as good as any--"
Roux's boss interupted the guy midsentence. "No it ain't! Your money will spread diseases, just like you being here will. Get out of my shop, before I throw you out." He threatened.
"Sir," The younger woman pleaded, "Our boat is leaking oil, it's half a mile down the river, we need--"
Roux stared as his employer grabbed a wrench, threatening to beat the guy when the girl kept talking. The girl went quiet real quickly, and the two of them hurried out of the shop.
A couple of seconds after they were gone, Roux threw down his work and moved to the front. "I finished the engine, my wife's got that shop opening, can I go early?" He asked.
"Yeah, yeah," His boss said, "Damn gypsies! Comin' in here, ruinin' the air in my shop!" He kept on muttering, while Roux grabbed his coat and made a quick escape through the open doors.
Roux caught up with the gypsies 5 minutes down the river. A small child was with them now. "Hey! Wait up." He jogged down to where they were and regarded them.
Strangers. Gypsies. Rivier rats. His people.
He knew his next words were going to risk his job, his life in Paris.. his safety here, along with those of Vianne and Anouk. But he also knew he could not bare not to say them. "I can help you."
The couple was so grateful, exhilarated even, at his promise. They agreed that he'd come to their boat tonight at 3am, when it was dark and nobody would notice him. They understood when he explained about his tricky situation, his desire to keep his job. Losing a night of sleep was the least of their concerns. Roux said he'd bring the tools, and he'd get them back on the river.
"Thank you. Thank you so much." The man said, when they shook hands to part ways for now. "You're heavensent, sir, we need to go South for the winter - our little baby girl has rheumatoid arthritis, she can't bare the cold up north."
"No problem." Despite the bad gutfeeling, Roux knew he was doing the right thing. "I'll see you tonight." He promised. After their ways parted, he headed home with a head full of thoughts, and worries.

When the door opened for the so-manieth time Vianne looked up, still hoping it was Roux. A huge smile spread across her face when indeed it was. She left the counter, where the kids were admiring her character-telling-spinning-plate and hurried over to Roux, wrapping her arms around him in a big hug "It is going sooo well! I'm so glad you're here to see"

"Hey," Roux managed to bring a smile on his face for her. He kissed her briefly, and took a look around the customer-filled shop. "I can see that." He smirked, to her words that it was going well.
On his way home, he had decided not to tell Vianne about his problems at work. She really thought they had a good thing going here.. and in the previous days, she seemed to shine with happiness again. He loved her. He loved having his old Vianne back. The last thing he wanted was to put worries on her shoulders. And really.. it was just one night.. She would never have to know.
He gave Vianne another kiss, and gave her waist a squeeze teasingly. "Think you have some hot chocolate spare for your guy?" He winked at her.

Her eyes glistened "Always" she went back to the counter, dragging Roux with her and sitting him down on a chair. "How was work ? I'm so glad your boss was nice enough to let you go early"
