Nine schools, two countries and countless years. It was an endless chain of events and reasons as to why Emma had changed schools so much since she was twelve. Most saw no reason to it, she was young, beautiful and apparently bright, but she had a temper like a lioness and the agility of one to boot.
The model was laying low for now, making herself as bland and normal as possible. Even if it meant swallowing her pride often and taking crap from others.
She sighed now as she moved through the lunch room and found an empty seat, or rather an unoccupied table, and sat down. No one really bothered with her, making her stand out as the school loner with the envy of the student body. Unlike some of these kids, she didn't have a scholarship or really much talent in anything but singing. Still, her mother made her take art classes and her step-father put her in regular maths and sciences.
It was a semi-miserable life. Especially now after she got that phone call, everything was even more clouded and Emma was quieter than usual. Still, the media buzzed on her 'depressed state' as they claimed as rumoured about it, she was suicidal one week, on drugs another, drinking heavily the next and all to do with her break up with Mike. She'd never get any peace this way.

Tom Hanson made his way through the school cantine, a pile of text books under one arm, his lunch tray in the other. His eyes scanned the room for the girl he was here to 'protect'. He spotted her across the far side of the room and sauntered over. "Hi," Tom said, resting his tray down on the table. "Anyone sitting here?" So far, he'd only seen an inch wide photo of her, but in life, she was really quite beautiful. Hanson had to remind himself not to stare.

The model shrugged, no one ever really came up to her or wanted to sit near her. It seemed as though most people liked to watch her from afar and assess her. Perhaps they were trying to see if she was as horrible as everyone had rumoured her to be. Either way, it was a piece of mind, a sense of peace...but still, it was awfully lonely and quite boring to be perfectly honest.
'I don't think so,' she replied, unpacking her food, trying to make heads or tails of what she was really eating. She bought one thing for this meal and it was a hot cup of coffee, the rest was given to her and she suffered through it, like a yoghurt parfait thing or something of the sort.

Tom sat down on the opposite side of the table to Emma, a few seats down so it wouldnt seem as though he'd particularly wanted to sit near her. He picked at his luke-warm fries.
After a while sitting in silence, Tom looked up at her again. "My names Tom by the way, I'm new here," He held his hand out to her across the table.

'Emma,' she replied, taking his hand almost to her own surprise even. 'I started here about a month ago.'
She looked him over, trying not to seem too interested. However, his clothing and general appearance made her smile slightly. She liked the rebellious type and she found his eyes very alluring. There was something about dark eyes on a man that drew her in, incised her. Still, she remembered the last time she let a man draw her in too quickly and it made her look away and focus on her meal.

Hanson took his hand back, shoving a few fries in his mouth. "What's it really like here?" He said, trying to make conversation. "So far, to me, everyone just seems stuck up and full of their own self-importance,"

Emma shrugged, not sure what to say, but she managed a slight sigh. 'It's an art school...what do you expect? These teachers are instructed to make each one of them feel as though they are made of gold and diamonds.'
She was starting to wonder why he was there if he didn't think he was anything special. Every student thought that they were so goddamn special because they were there for acting, singing, dancing...whatever it was that they were there for. It was certainly something her mother was in love with...self importance.
'Why are you here?' she asked a little sharper than she meant to.

Hanson smirked. "Because I got thrown out of every other school in the city, and I can play guitar reasonably well, I paint as well when I can, but I would hardly call myself an artist," Tom laughed, taking another forkful of food. "Why are you here?"

'My mum,' Emma replied. 'She's a fanatic about my career and thinks that being her for something like singing or acting would boost it. My step-dad's American so he set me up with a house and everything here. Apparently, neither one of us are here because we want to...possibly we are the only ones here like that.'

Tom glanced around the lunch hall at all the other people. "Probably," He smirked. "So ..." Tom said, changing the subject. "You're sitting here alone in the middle of the day, talking to me, where are you friends? Boyfriend?" Hanson wasnt really interested, but he needed to find out more about the guy that was supposedly after her.
