She nodded and poured her cream in, so that it was a pale brown, almost off-white. 'I feel almost like a bad person,' she admitted, looking down at her pale drink. 'I think everything about this situation makes me feel that way.'

"What makes you think that?" Tom asked, glancing over at her.

'Mike,' she said with a shrug. 'I know I shouldn't have gotten involved with him. I was fourteen and I should have been trying to be a normal kid instead of rushing to grow up. I thought that having an older boyfriend would be great and that he'd look out for me...I should have left him as soon as things got uncomfortable, but I didn't. Instead I let it get to a point where, it involves the police because he is stalking me. I lead him on...I let him get away with too much, when he didn't respect me at all.'

Tom shrugged. "Doesn't make you a bad person. You were young, niave, you didn't know any better,"

'I did know better,' she replied. 'I was angry with myself...my mother and wanted to just...lash out, I guess. Show them that I wasn't going to obey everything they wanted me to.'

"Just like every other teenager," Tom said, picking up his coffee and ice cream. He pushed the door open with his hip and sat down outside by the pool.

'I suppose,' Emma agreed as she picked up her snack and followed him. 'Most do it in other ways, extreme hair styles, drugs...partying. I just feel guilty, most kids if they do things, they end up getting themselves into trouble that lands them in jail...instead I strip off my clothes for the cameras and dating the wrong kind of bloke.'

"Each to their own I suppose," Tom took his shoes off and rolled his trousers up to his knees, dipping his feet into the pool. "It wasn't as if you went out looking for all this,"

'Perhaps,' she agreed, sitting on a chair. 'I think I wanted to feel wanted by someone other than magazines and photographers. It's sad, but I still do. I had imagined something almost of a film-eque happiness, but that is why it's a film and we're in reality...it doesn't happen, there is no "happily ever after".'

"You have to work for a happily ever after - it's not just going to fall into your lap," Tom said. "That's most people's problem,"
