Like Cora, I watch the exchange with mild fascination. Cassandra's threats and terrible predictions, Rae's arguments for a life at sea. I'm actually quite content sitting back and observing the women argue, granting myself some time to think. I lean back in my seat, and slowly return the bottle of rum to my lips. Rae failed to answer my question, I noticed. Why. Why are they choosing the sea over the safety and ease that land has to offer? My gaze flickers to Cora, and I decide she might as well give me the answer. I gesture her to come closer, and lean over so I'm on eye-level with the girl. "What's innit fer you two, then?" I ask 'r in a low whisper, as if not to disturb the arguing women.

Cora:
I look at this fascinating man and smile when he talks to me. When he asks me the question, I lean in closely and whisper to him like the answer is a secret. "Freedom," I say fiercely, and I giant proud grin spreads across my face.

I cock an eyebrow, dark eyes set on this li'll mite of a girl, studying her. "She tell ye to say that?" I soon question, with a slight nod in Rae's direction.

"Aye," I say, confused by his question. "The sea, She did!"

As Rae doesn't reply to me I turn my attention to the Child as she speaks, I roll my eyes at her idealistic responses, "Bloody hell."

"Ah. The sea," I repeat Cora's words thoughtfully, not paying any attention whatsoever to Cassandra's grunts and moans. I lean back in my chair, eyes on this girl (..my daughter, apparently..), tapping a finger against my chin. "You know, said sea can be a harsh place for small things like yerselves. What makes ye think ye'd be able to stand it, eh?"

Rae:
I turn my attention to Cora as she answers Jack, ignoring Cassandra. "Because I'm a pirate!" she states as if Jack were completely daft.

Jack smirked as he regarded Cora, amused by how convinced her answer sounded. "I see," His gaze returned to Rae, and eyebrow raised, but with the slightest hint of amusement in his look. "You shouldn't 've read 'r so many stories." He said, figuring the girl's fantasies and dreams matched the level of her mother's already.

"It's ridiculous." I agree, glaring at Rae, "You'll be condemning the child to death at sea." I tell her yet again, because I genuinely believe it.

"Then again, being overly confident is one of the vices I admire." Jack stated in favour of Rae's daft idea - even if only to annoy Cassandra some more.
