By the time Geography had ended, Tom had been certain that it wasn't just his imagination that made him think Roxy didn't want anyone to know she had met him. She hadn't said a word during two hours of classes. She steered clear of his path constantly to avoid him. It wouldn't have been this weird if it wasn't a contrast like black and white, compared to the way she had been chatting with him earlier.
Something was definately the matter. But was it just a weird group-policy, or did it have to do with the drugged kid?
When Geography ended and the lunchbreak began, Tom had figured out a way to decide which one was the case.
As the rest of the kids left for the canteen, he picked up his stuff and headed for the principals office. He knocked on the door and had to wait a few seconds before the principal opened up. The principal took a second to recognize him as the new kid who had been in his office earlier this morning. But once he did, he opened the door further. "Mister Henderson. How can I help you?" "Uhm, I think I made a mistake on that list you gave me this morning? The one where I had to fill in my adress and stuff?" He smirked ruefully, "I think I might've filled in my old one." The principal nodded and stepped back into the office, so Tom could follow him. "Okay. I'll get you the list and you can correct it."
Soon enough Tom sat at the desk with a pen in his hand, bended over the list the principal had given him again. His name was at the bottom, being the newest student. But above his personalia, there were other names of students who had recently enrolled.
Mary Gorell, February 8th. Just a few days before he arrived. He remembered the name, and read up the list further.
His eyes stopped at a name on January 1st. Rob Benchley.
The kid who had died, had died in the last days of January. So this Rob enrolled well before the death. And Mary a few days after, like him.
He had a plan to find both of them, and find out whether they were excluded from any contact as well, like him. If both were, this was just an unfriendly group of students. But if only Mary had the same problem, it had something to do with the death.
He made up a new adress and 'corrected' his data on the list, so the principal would think that was actually why he was here. "Is it correct now?" "Yeah." Tom got up and grabbed his backpack. "Thanks." He left the office.

"What the hell are you looking for? Your food is right in front of you and so are we, not around you" Jimmy snorted, getting fed up with Roxy's turning about
"Whaat? I'm just looking around, since when is that a crime?" She rolled her eyes in her own typical way and played with her hair.
"So, how long do we need to figure out if this new kid is alright or not?" "I don't care if he's alright, I don't want him mingling with us. You never know what the cops are gonna do next, we oughta stay low for a long while"
Roxy sighed deeply "You know, you guys are not as smart as you think you are"
"Says the lady who can't even pass an English test normally" Ted highfived with Jimmy. Roxy gave Ted a pushed against his side "Shut up. I mean it." She muttered, not happy to sit around with those idiots. "He's knew, so was that other girl, whatsername.." "..Mary" "Right, Mary. If the cops is gonna talk to them then they'll spill out that we're avoiding them, won't that make the cops even more suspiscious? I say we needa at least be friendly and say hi once in a while." "So now its our turn ?" "..our turn?" Jimmy frowned "Roxy. Don't tell me you went against the rules" "I'm just saying! Its suspicious if we isolate them at this moment in time..." Jacob finally spoke up "Roxy, for all we know the cops can send in an undercover cop or something and before you know it you'll be making friends with a cop and telling him all about our little Elkwood-scams..that would be stupid. So just stay away from all newbies, capish?"

Tom was on his way to the canteen. He wasn't sure how he was gonna find Mary or Rob yet, but he figured that maybe, if he could talk to Roxy alone, she could point them out for him. On his way there, the math teacher who's class he'd attended to two hours ago was just leaving the classroom though, and spotted him. "Oh, Thomas?" He stopped in his tracks, a little annoyed by the interuption. "I prefer Tom." He told the guy. "Alright, Tom." He gestured to walk with him, and he started going in the direction of the canteen. "You're quite ahead with math, aren't you?" "Yeah." Tom agreed easily. That was part of his act, after all. This time he didn't have to pretend not to understand anything, he'd be the clever guy. "Did you get good grades in your last highschool?" He nodded to that. "Yeah, I did." They got to the canteen by now, and the math teacher came to a stop, turning towards Tom. "Would you mind helping out a few students who are falling behind? You can do it during the math classes, when the rest of them is doing homework. It won't be any extra time, and I think you could handle it." Tom glanced around the canteen for a second, and spotted Roxy and her friends.. Before he glanced back to the teacher. "Who?" The teacher gave him a short list of names, four kids who hadn't passed their last three tests or so. Tom took it and scanned the list. Mary Gorell was the second from the bottom. Finally, some luck. "Yeah.." He said, eyes still on the list. "Sure, I'll do it."

Roxy saw Tom as he walked into the canteen with mr. Coleman. She smiled a little, glad to see him. It felt as if her stomach flipped around at the sight of him, was she nervous or something ? "You guys, i'll see you in french class okay?" she said as she got up. She wanted to talk to him and see how much damage she had brought about by not talking to him for two hours. Or more.. slightly ignoring him for two hours.

"Okay, good! We can get this started next class." Mister Coleman nodded, content that he found a good way to keep his students from falling behind. "No problem." Tom watched Coleman walk away, and looked back over to the rest of the canteen to see where to go. He spotted Roxy coming over though, and waited for her to catch up. He noticed her friends in the background though, staring in their direction and not looking pleased at all.

"Hey.. what did mr. Coleman want from you ? Are you the pet of the teacher already?" She grinned and took Tom by his arm, leading him out of the canteen again. She wasn't sure if he had eaten yet, but if she wanted to mingle, she'd better not do it in front of her friends. They were too suspicious and careful, they wouldn't understand that she wanted to get to know a guy like this better.

"Hey," He decided not to comment on the fact that she was avoiding to be seen with him again. He'd confront her with it if he couldn't figure out what was going on the other way. That could be his back-up plan. For now, he pretended like he didn't even care.
"Coleman asked me to help others who aren't keeping up in mathclass." He answered her question, "I'm pretty much ahead of you guys. Hey, do you know some Rob Benchley?" He asked.
The way he asked it, it would seem as if that was one of the kids he had to tutor, and that would avoid Roxy to wonder why he was so interested in Rob. Truth was, if he could get to Mary through tutoring, he still needed to find this Rob-guy differently, and Roxy might be of help.

"Rob ? Yeah, I know Rob.. I thought he was pretty good at maths" She answered, trying to figure out what she had heard about Rob the other day. "I think he's the best of his class actually.." She said, wondering if he needed any tutoring at all "Or are you gonna do this together with Rob?"

When she caught his lie, Tom thought fast for the best solution. If he said that Rob would help, she would find out that wasn't the truth soon enough. But he couldn't claim this kid needed tutoring either, apparently.
"No," He shrugged, casually, "Coleman just mentioned him. I think he asked Rob first or something, I'm not sure. The name just sounded familiar and I wondered whether I met him before."
A good, solid lie that couldn't be checked.

"Oh, no you haven't, he's not in our classes, though..except for French so I suppose you'll see him after lunch. Speaking of which, have you had anything to eat yet? Cause I know where we can get the best and sweetest buns of the school" She grinned at him, looking secretively.
